Dorothy Perkins Dress c/o, on sale | Onfire Cardigan, on sale | New Look Boots | Vintage Clutch (similar options here, here, here and here)
The days are getting shorter and the weather gloomier, but the festive glow of the holiday season will soon come and drive off any winter blues. In fact, for the kind of girl that I am, the mere musing about cozying up around the fire and about sophisticated party outfits already does the trick.
I teamed up with Dorothy Perkins to bring you the perfect party look for the holidays. I chose a dress which is darkness-defying, disco-friendly and refined at the same time. Nothing says party-ready like a subtle touch of sequins! My dress is a lovely union of twenties’ (the pretty embellishments) and sixties’ style (the collared A-line shape shouting “Twiggy”!).
I paired the dress with a light grey chunky knit cardigan: a soft touch contrasting with the sleek texture of the sequins. I kept it simple with a black clutch, black lace-up ankle boots and no other accessory than a relaxed manner while I strolled through the cloister at the foot of the Abbey Tower of Long John (TripAdvisor), in Middelburg, the Netherlands.
In no time the dimness of the day seemed a little further away. On the stage of my mind I saw praying Norbertines light up their ambulatory with their white cowls. Perhaps, with my illuminating dress, I was able in a similar way to dazzle the drizzle and puzzle the mizzle of that autumnal day.

Thanks, that’s so sweet!
Very elegant boots. Match perfectly with the embellished dress! Are they easy to walk on? But never mind, the style is perfect.
Enjoy your explorations! Sandra
The shoes are rather high: they’re perfect for holiday celebrations but not to walk on for kilometres, I’m afraid :)
these photos are so nice and the dress is super pretty!

Oh, thank you for your truly beautiful words! I loved that place as soon as I saw it and indeed, it was the play of light and shadows that made it so special… Xx
The stage a mixture of cloister and catwalk. The protagonist a mystery girl. Her darkness-defying black dress lit up by sequins and a relaxed stance.
Wake up, invisible cats, monks and girls. Leave your baskets, your cells, your daily habits and attend the unpretentious apparition of heaven on earth.
Hallelujah!
(And three cheers for Bold Bliss & Dorothy Perkins.)
